Our Auckland asbestos laboratory

Our laboratory is based at 3 Margot Street, Epsom, Auckland. Accurate Consulting Limited holds IANZ accreditation 1289 under the Chemical Testing Laboratory programme, to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

Our accredited scope includes bulk identification of asbestos using polarised light microscopy and sampling and analysis of airborne asbestos fibre counts using light microscopy. Download the current IANZ scope of accreditation (PDF).

When you contact the laboratory, describe the material and its location, explain why testing is needed, and provide your required timeframe. Photographs and existing reports can help us discuss the appropriate next step.

Please confirm sample collection, packaging, labelling and delivery requirements with our team before sending material. We can also discuss professional sample collection. Fees and turnaround times will be confirmed for your enquiry.

Material testing, air testing or water analysis?

These services answer different questions. Material testing identifies asbestos in the sample submitted. Air monitoring involves collecting and analysing air samples within an agreed assessment scope. For asbestos in drinking water and other water types, Accurate collects samples in New Zealand for specialist analysis through Cohlabs TEM in Australia.

Does a sample result replace a survey?

A result relates to the sample analysed. If your enquiry concerns a wider building, several materials or planned refurbishment, discuss whether a survey would better address your project needs.
